Reaction to Article

"There's a bit of the creature in all of us." (Schildt). This quote couldn't be more true. The creature in us acts differently though when it shows. For some people good things happen when their creature shows. They do extraordinary things that sometimes dont seem human and the creature within helps other people. "When I returned, as often as it was necessary, I cleared their path from the snow and performed those offices that i had seen done by Felix." (Shelley, p102) This quote shows that Victor's Frankenstein was capable of doing great things when he felt loved and not hated. But when "suffering and loss and pain, the feeling of being ostracized" (Schildt) is felt bad creatues come out in people, just like in Victor's creature. People are capable of doing terrible things to other humans such as the creature. "The child struggled and loaded me with epithets which carried despair to my my heart. I grasped his throat to silence him, and in a moment he lay dead at my feet." (Shelley, p131) This show how terrible the creature was. And there are murders and people who have this evil creature in them when they feel hated and alone. The quote is right in every way saying that there is a creature in all of us. Depending on the situation though there is a different kind of creature in all of us. If we feel loved and important, the creature within us will do great things like Victor's creature did with the Delacey family. If the person feels hated and ostracized, as many of us do like the monster sometimes, the creature within us will do terrible things, like Victor's did when he felt betrayed and lonely.

Frankenstein thoughts!!

Frankenstein is a very interesting novel. Overall I like it so far. Some parts in it are hard to understand though. Mary Shelley did a very good job of creating an interesting story. I can't believe how crazy and obsessive Victor goes into his work. I get obsessed over somethings, but never so obsessed that I forget about my family and everything else in my life. It would be scary to also know that I created a monster and it was running around killing people! The plot of the story is intriguing and keeps me interested.
The only thing that I wish that was different was how Shelley described the creature. "How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe..." (p. 43, Shelley) is really the only paragraph that explains how the creature looks. It would make the book a little better if there was more description on how Shelley saw the creature, not Hollywood. It was her creature, not Hollywood's! The whole book is based on this creature and we don't even know what it truly looks like. Shelley created a very interesting book and its a great book to read right before HALLOWEEN!
